Buyers beware – purchasing a fixer-upper is not for everyone. If you do not have a little extra capital on hand, you might find it difficult to afford the alterations and renovations you have in mind. Similarly, you will need to ask yourself whether you would like to take on most of the alterations yourself and do-it-yourself (DIY) , or iwhether you’d rather leave it in the hands of an expert and forget about it until it’s finished. Obviously, with a little know-how, DIY will work out much cheaper, but at the same time, will you have the time to tackle such a big project?
